A gift for a graduate, a newlywed, a new partner

Give someone their signature.

For the graduate about to sign a first lease, the friend who just took a new name, the colleague made partner. A gift that is used every day, for the rest of their life.

Twenty original directions for your full name, in about a minute. Free to try; the kit is $19, if one of them is worth keeping.

Drawn for Avery Hale

Three directions the studio would draw for a gift

Confident · flowing · fully readable

Readable and warm — the direction most people recognise as themselves on first sight.

Commanding · flowing · signature-legible

The one with presence, for the person who is about to be signing things that matter.

Understated · sharp · signature-legible

The everyday version, for the thousand small signatures that follow the big one.

Studio drawings of an example name, made by the same engine that draws the paid kit and chosen on the briefs that suit this moment. Yours are drawn on your own name — twenty of them — and you choose.

The moment

Why this is the time

Most gifts for a milestone are objects that mark it. A signature is a thing the person will use at the milestone itself: on the lease, on the licence with the new name, on the partnership agreement. It is personal in the literal sense, and nobody else will think of it.

Type their full name as they will sign it. The studio draws twenty directions in about a minute, and you can either choose three for them or send them the drawings and let them choose. The kit — the files, the report and the lesson — is delivered as a download you can forward or print.

If you are not sure how they sign — first and last, a middle initial, a new married name — ask, or draw both. The drawing is free to try as many times as you like.

The kit

What you keep

  • Three finished directions on their name, with a written report that reads well as a gift note.
  • SVG and transparent PNG, so the signature is ready for whatever they sign next.
  • The stroke-order lesson and printable practice sheets — the part that makes it theirs.
  • A download you can forward, print or put in a card.

How it works

Three steps, one question

  1. Type the full name. No brief, no style quiz. The name is the brief.
  2. See twenty directions, drawn in about a minute, from fully readable to signature-legible.
  3. Keep three. The files, the report and the lesson arrive straight after checkout.

Questions

Asked before buying

Can they choose the directions themselves?

Yes. Draw their name, then send them the link or sit with them; the choosing takes a few minutes and is the best part.

Can I buy it without knowing exactly how they sign?

Draw the name the way you expect them to sign it. If you are unsure between two forms, draw both — seeing the directions is free — and buy the one they prefer.

Is there a physical version?

Not yet. The kit is digital: files, report and lesson, which print well. A card or a print can be made from the vector artwork at any print shop.

How much is it?

Seeing the twenty directions is free. The kit is $19.
