For a new last name

A signature for the name you just took.

You have signed one name your whole life. The new one deserves better than a first attempt on the marriage certificate.

Twenty original directions for your full name, in about a minute. Free to try; the kit is $19, if one of them is worth keeping.

Drawn for Elena Marsh

Three directions the studio would draw for a new last name

Confident · flowing · fully readable

Both names written out, for the licence, the bank and every form the change touches.

Understated · sharp · signature-legible

The everyday version: quick, quiet, and clearly the same hand as the formal one.

Commanding · flowing · signature-legible

For the cards and the thank-you notes, where the new name gets to be the point.

Studio drawings of an example name, made by the same engine that draws the paid kit and chosen on the briefs that suit this moment. Yours are drawn on your own name — twenty of them — and you choose.

The moment

Why this is the time

A name change arrives with a list: the licence, the passport, the bank, the payroll form, the lease. Each one asks for a signature, and most people improvise a new one on the first form and then spend a year trying to remember what they did.

The studio draws the new name properly before any of that starts. You get the full, formal version for the documents and a fast everyday version that is unmistakably the same hand, so the signature on the mortgage and the one on the birthday card agree.

If you are hyphenating or keeping both names, say so in the name field exactly as you intend to sign it. The drawing is made on what you type.

The kit

What you keep

  • The full signature and the fast everyday version, both on the new name.
  • Transparent PNG and SVG, sized for forms, e-signing and a letterhead.
  • The written report: how the new capital is built and how to join the names.
  • The stroke-order lesson and practice sheets, so the new hand is yours within a week.

How it works

Three steps, one question

  1. Type the full name. No brief, no style quiz. The name is the brief.
  2. See twenty directions, drawn in about a minute, from fully readable to signature-legible.
  3. Keep three. The files, the report and the lesson arrive straight after checkout.

Questions

Asked before buying

Should I change my signature when I change my name?

There is no rule that says you must, and no rule that says you cannot. Most people do, because the old signature spells the old name. What matters is that whatever you choose, you can repeat it, and that is what the lesson is for.

Can I include both names, or a hyphen?

Yes. Type the name exactly as you intend to sign it — first and new last, both last names, or hyphenated — and the studio draws that.

Does this update my signature anywhere official?

No. It gives you a designed signature and teaches you to write it. Where and how you use it, and which records you update, is your business and your paperwork.

How long until I can write it without thinking?

Most people are consistent after a few practice sheets. The lesson shows the stroke order at writing speed and slowed down, and the sheets give you the guide lines.
